California Achievement Tests/5 Results

The California Achievement Tests, Fifth Edition (CAT / 5) measures the skills and concepts generally taught in today’s schools in the areas of Reading, Language, Mathematics, Spelling and Study Skills.  This Home Report gives information about the student’s progress in acquiring these basic skills.

These test results are reported in percentiles.  For example, a student whose NP (National Percentile) is 65 scored higher then 65 percent of the students in the normal group.  The 50th NP represents the “National Average;” half of the norm group scored above this point and half below.  NP’s between 23 and 77 are generally considered to be the “average range,” those less than 23 “below average,” and those greater than 77 “above average.”

The scores on this test are not used for report card purposes.  The results help teachers plan the delivery of curriculum.  If you require further clarification, please phone the school office.
